Written by John Cariani On a cold, clear winter night in the remote town of Almost, Maine, love appears in unexpected and often magical ways. Under the glow of the Northern Lights, the town’s residents experience moments of connection, heartbreak, and transformation. Almost, Maine is a romantic comedy composed of nine short, interconnected plays. Each scene unfolds at the same moment—9:00 PM on a winter evening—creating a tapestry of relationships that range from whimsical to deeply moving. Set against a surreal, slightly magical landscape, the play explores love through literal and imaginative devices: hearts break and are carried away, emotional wounds manifest physically, and chance encounters reshape lives. With humor and sincerity, the play examines the vulnerability and wonder of human connection.
