The FAU Department of Theatre & Dance is proud to present “Carrie: The Musical” on October 2–11, 2026!

Carrie White is a teenage outcast who longs to belong. At school, she is relentlessly bullied; at home, she is controlled by her deeply religious and domineering mother. When Carrie discovers she possesses telekinetic powers, her fragile world begins to shift—with devastating consequences.

Carrie: The Musical is a coming-of-age horror story adapted from Stephen King’s 1974 novel. Featuring a contemporary pop-rock score, the musical explores themes of bullying, isolation, and religious extremism.

The story is framed through a police investigation led by Sue Snell, the sole survivor of a catastrophic event in Chamberlain, Maine. After a traumatic incident in the school locker room, Carrie experiences her first period and discovers her telekinetic abilities. Hoping to make amends, Sue convinces her boyfriend, Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to the senior prom. Meanwhile, Chris Hargensen, seeking revenge after being banned from prom, orchestrates a cruel prank. When Carrie is crowned Prom Queen, the moment is shattered as pig’s blood is dumped on her, triggering a violent telekinetic outburst that destroys the gym and its occupants. Returning home, Carrie is fatally attacked by her mother before using her final strength to stop her. She dies in Sue’s arms, bringing the tragedy to a close.
