FAU’s Department of Theatre & Dance is proud to present “The Pirates of Penzance” on November 14-23, 2025!
Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera continues to delight audiences with its whimsical tale of duty, love, and piracy. Set on the coast of Cornwall during Queen Victoria's reign, this timeless masterpiece follows the adventures of Frederic, a young man mistakenly apprenticed to a band of tender-hearted pirates. As Frederic attempts to leave his piratical past behind and pursue a romance with the beautiful Mabel, daughter of Major-General Stanley, he finds himself caught in a hilarious web of misunderstandings and obligations. With its memorable characters, witty, dialogue, and catchy melodies, including the "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General," The Pirates of Penzance showcases Gilbert and Sullivan's unparalleled ability to blend humor, social commentary, and musical brilliance.
