Festival of the Arts Boca is proud to present “Lauren Groff: Art at the End of the World” on March 9, 2027!
Join us for an evening with one of America's most acclaimed novelists, as she discusses why art is even more necessary in difficult times.
Groff cites the poet William Carlos Williams, who, in his marvelous love poem Asphodel, that Greeny Flower, sent a furious sally against the misconception that art isn’t necessary:
It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
for lack
of what is found there.
It can be difficult to justify art during the Anthropocene, Groff says, when it feels as though the world is swiftly darkening.
Her talk will elevate and celebrate the necessity of art, drawing on ideas from poets and writers through the ages, from Czeslaw Milosz to George Eliot.
