Join the Boca Raton Museum of Art for “Music in the Museum: Resonance and Reflection” on October 11, 2026!

Music in the Museum pairs visual and performing arts in intimate, one-hour programs that highlight musical traditions, cultural connections, and contemporary interpretations, offering audiences a multisensory experience that deepens their engagement with the Museum’s exhibitions and collection. 

Resonance and Reflection will explore the rich dialogue between viola and piano—two voices intertwined in warmth, depth, and nuance. Centered on the viola’s uniquely human timbre, the recital invites listeners into a world of lingering harmonies and intimate musical conversations. Presented in conjunction with TYPOE GRAN: Anatomy of a Practice, the program echoes the exhibition’s exploration of process, layering, and transformation, unfolding as a sonic counterpart to the artist’s visual language.   

Performer Bios 

David Pedraza is a violist from Reynosa, Mexico, and principal violist of the Symphony of the Americas and a member of the Con Brio Quartet. He earned a Bachelor of Music from Shenandoah Conservatory and a Professional Performance Certificate and Master of Music from Lynn University, supported by full scholarships. A former member of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas, Pedraza won first prize with the Vitali String Quartet at the 2004 MTNA Virginia chamber music competition. In 2023, he gave the Mexican premiere of Leo Smit's Viola Concerto with the Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes at Mexico City's Palacio de Bellas Artes. He has performed throughout the Americas and Europe.    

Feruza Hirst is a South Florida-based pianist, collaborative artist, educator, and church organist. She won the 2018 Lyric-Lynn Chamber Music Competition, leading to her 2019 New York debut at the Kosciuszko Foundation, and the 2020 National Society of Arts and Letters Duo Competition. She earned degrees from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, Florida Atlantic University, and Lynn University. Hirst has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Stradivarius Museum, the Florida Atlantic Theatre, and the Boca Raton Museum of Art. A former adjunct professor of piano at Florida Atlantic University, she maintains an active performance and teaching schedule and a private piano studio.
