The FAU Department of Theatre & Dance is proud to present “The Most Happy Fella” from February 19–28, 2027!
This sweeping and deeply personal musical tells the story of love, vulnerability, and second chances. Tony, a middle-aged Italian vineyard owner, proposes marriage through a correspondence with a young woman, who mistakenly believes she is marrying his handsome foreman.
When she arrives and discovers the truth, her disappointment threatens to destroy the relationship before it begins. Compounding the situation, Tony is seriously injured in an accident, and it is during his recovery that a deeper understanding begins to grow between them.
Often described as a“Broadway opera,”The Most Happy Fella features a rich and expansive score that blends operatic and musical theatre traditions. With its emotionally complex characters and soaring music, the show explores themes of identity, insecurity, and the transformative power of love.
Book, Music, and Lyrics by Frank Loesser.
